The second international summer school successfully realized at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor

The international and interdisciplinary lifelong learning program – summer school entitled “Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry” was successfully completed last week at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor. This generation of attendees included students from Italy, Romania, and Montenegro, as well as employees in public and private companies engaged in various activities of the blue economy in Montenegro.

In addition to representatives from business, professors and associates from the University of Montenegro, the University of Camerino, the University of Bologna and the Tourism Organization of the Municipality of Kotor presented themselves to the participants through a multidisciplinary approach, theoretical lectures and practical activities.

The participants were presented with certificates by the dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Špiro Ivošević and the head of the summer school Prof. Dr. Danilo Nikolić. The professors thanked the participants for the recognized importance of the summer school, for their active participation, and congratulated them on their success in the final exam. Also, a big thank you goes to the lecturers and co-organizers (Port of Kotor AD and Portonovi marina), who invested time, knowledge and expertise during the summer holidays and in the peak of the tourist season and significantly contributed to quality program contents.

Prof. Nikolić especially thanked his colleagues for the exceptional organization and overall support for the successful realization of the second accredited international summer school in Montenegro. He invited all participants to become its active ambassadors in their countries, at faculties and in the business environment, and to continue successful and promising cooperation in the coming years.

This year’s summer school “Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry” was organized with the aim of sustaining the results of the Erasmus+ project “Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning (IESP)”.

Support for the implementation of the program this year was provided by the Port of Kotor AD, Portonovi Marina and the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Kotor, to whom we would like to thank for their cooperation.

A summer school on “Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry” will be organized at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor in July

For the second year in a row, the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor of the University of Montenegro will organize an international interdisciplinary six-day summer school in the English language (LLL program) entitled “Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry” in the period from July 3 to 8, 2023. The summer school program is intended for students and employees in the maritime industry. Participants of the summer school program will have the opportunity to receive a certificate with 2 ECTS credits upon completion of the training.

The program supports the creation of a management structure that will be able to better respond to the challenges of future maritime development. This interdisciplinary program covers the wider field of maritime affairs, maritime business and its management, nautical and cruise tourism, their impact on the environment, and management of the protection of the marine environment, the coast and others. In addition to teaching staff from the University of Montenegro, prominent representatives from the profession from partner higher education institutions are expected to participate.

The training program was created as an outcome of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning (IESP)” and this year’s summer school represents one of the sustainable results of the project.
