The Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, a part of the University of Montenegro, has more than 60 years of tradition in educating students in different maritime fields, as well as in the training of professional seafarers. The Faculty itself has extensive experience of participating in and coordinating EU co-financed projects including programs such as TEMPUS, Interreg IPA CBC, Adrion, EUREKA, and ERASMUS + CBHE, besides others.

Within the Center for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E Centre), part of the teaching process will be implemented, as well as applied and fundamental research in the field of blue economy, organizing scientific and professional meetings, monitoring the application of research results in practice and the preparation of scientific studies and analyses.

Within the I&E Center there are laboratories for:

  • Energy efficiency in shipping;
  • Off-shore technologies;
  • Marine engines;
  • Fuels and lubricants (accredited by ATCG);
  • Protection of the marine environment from the impact of ships;
  • Underwater ship archeology and
  • Marine electrical engineering.

 

The I&E Center performs the following activities:

  • Collection of data related to the research, entrepreneurial and innovation potential of the Faculty;
  • Conducting fundamental and applied multidisciplinary technical-technological research;
  • Development of partnerships with companies and connecting researchers and students with business partners;
  • Providing support and strengthening ties with business incubators, innovation-entrepreneurial centers and science and technology parks;
  • Joint participation in the market with other units dealing with the transfer of knowledge and technologies in the field of the blue economy;
  • Providing access to resources, equipment, training, research results, patents and licenses offered to the business environment;
  • Organization of scientific conferences, seminars, symposia;
  • Collecting data related to the faculty’s research and innovation potential in the field of underwater archaeology;
  • Providing a tourist offer based on the digitalization of underwater cultural heritage, innovative 3D photogrammetric mapping of underwater shipwrecks, internet platforms and virtual educational access.
