The Faculty of Economy – FE (as a legal entity) is one of the faculties of the University of Tirana. FE was founded in 1952 and at the time it was called the High Institute of Economy. It was renamed as Faculty of Economy, when it became part of the University of Tirana (established in 1957). Laboratories are provided for almost all the departments to ensure high standards of lecturing and communication for all the students. Now, the faculty is operating through new programs, based on the best western practices adapted to Albanian standards. FE is composed of six departments: Management, Tourism and Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Informatics and Statistics, and Economics.

The FE besides many bilateral agreements with various higher educational institutions in EU and in the WB Region, has been part of Erasmus projects. Recently FE has increased significantly the number of outgoing students and staffs that are involved in the mobility schemes.

FE has good collaboration with University of Nebraska Lincoln (USA), University of Staffordshire, University of Strathclyde and University of Portsmouth (Great Britain), University of Bamberg, University of Frankfurt and University of Siegen (Germany), University of Bari, University of Trieste and University of Verona (Italy), University of Anzher and University of Grenoble (France) etc.

Faculty of Economy is currently the most internationalized higher education institution in Albania within University of Tirana. In this framework, FE places a high importance to the fostering of the institutional participation on several EU programs, networks and initiatives on internationalization of higher education and development cooperation.

In 2018, The FE academics jointly collaborated and supported the Government of Albania in preparation and launching of the” Albanian Tourism Strategy 2017-2022”.  FE academics have been involved and contributed in the preparation of Water Supply Strategy at national level.
