The third international summer school at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor successfully completed

The third consecutive international and interdisciplinary lifelong learning program – summer school titled “Sustainable development of the yachting and cruise industry” was successfully completed on July 6, 2024 at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor. The participants of this year’s summer school were from Montenegro and Slovenia.

Lectures and demonstration exercises were organized at the Faculty, the Institute of Marine Biology, as well as in the Port of Kotor. During their stay in the Port of Kotor, the participants had the opportunity to attend practical classes on the cruise ship “Vista” of the Oceania Cruises company.

In addition to professors and associates from the University of Montenegro and the University of Camerino from Italy, experts from the yachting and cruising industry presented themselves to the participants through a multidisciplinary approach, theoretical lectures and practical activities.

Finally, the participants were presented with their certificates by the founder of the summer school, Prof. Dr. Danilo Nikolić, the Head of the Summer School, Dr. Maja Škurić, and Dr. Tena Božović, the representative of the Port of Kotor. On that occasion, they congratulated the participants on their success in the final exam and encouraged them to become ambassadors of the summer schools in their institutions and countries.

The summer school “Sustainable Development of the Yachting and Cruise Industry,” was organized with the aim of sustaining the results of the Erasmus+ project, “Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning (IESP).” We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Port of Kotor for its support and cooperation in implementing the program over the past few years.

Second Call: Lifelong Learning program – “Sustainable Development of the Yachting and Cruise Industry”

We are delighted to announce this year’s Summer School, titled: “Sustainable Development of the Yachting and Cruise Industry.” The program is scheduled to take place from July 1 to 6, 2024. This internationally recognized, interdisciplinary, and accredited Lifelong Learning program has been conducted in English for the third consecutive year. It is tailored for students and professionals working in the blue economy sectors.

 

Program Objectives: The primary objective of the program is to establish a robust management structure capable of effectively addressing the future challenges associated with the development of the blue economy. The curriculum covers a diverse range of topics, including seafaring, maritime business and management, nautical and cruise tourism, their environmental impact, and marine environmental protection.

 

Distinguished Faculty: In addition to the esteemed teaching staff from the University of Montenegro, we anticipate the participation of other prominent lecturers from Montenegro, the region, and the European Union.

 

Tuition Fees:

Students: €250

Professionals: €350

The tuition fee includes teaching materials, light lunches, coffee, and water.

First Call: A summer school on “Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry” will be organized at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor in July 2024

For the third year in a row, the Center for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor – University of Montenegro will organize an international interdisciplinary six-day summer school in the English language (Long-Life-Learning program) entitled “Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry” in the period from July 1 to 6, 2024. The summer school program is intended for students and employees in the maritime industry. Students will have the opportunity to receive a certificate with 2 ECTS credits upon completion of the training.

The program supports the creation of a management structure that will be able to better respond to the challenges of future maritime development. This interdisciplinary program covers the wider field of maritime affairs, maritime business and its management, nautical and cruise tourism, their impact on the environment, and management of the protection of the marine environment, the coast and others. In addition to teaching staff from the University of Montenegro, prominent representatives from the profession from partner higher education institutions are expected to participate.

TRUE BLUE Project – CEI support to Training and Research in a United Europe for Blue Economy

TRUE BLUE CEI support to Training and Research in a United Europe for Blue Economy – 1

We are delighted to announce that our Know How Exchange programme – KEP, TRUE BLUE Project – CEI support to Training and Research in a United Europe for Blue Economy has officially started.

The virtual kick off meeting took place the 29th of January and it was an opportunity for the partners to introduce themselves and discuss the main features of the project.

Under the coordination of the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics – OGS, the Consortium is composed of:

The project, a Know How Exchange programme – KEP, is financed with the contribution of the Central European Initiative – CEI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic.

The TRUE BLUE project aims to promote EU integration by strengthening joint efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania by furthering science diplomacy through training and capacity building activities for public administrations’ officials focusing on sustainable blue economy.

With the main objective of upskilling and equipping public administration officers with a methodology and complementary tools to develop a sustainable and equitable ocean economy, the TRUE BLUE project will organize, in a first phase, a Training of Trainers activity in Trieste and Piran from 10 to 14 June.

To achieve a multiplier effect and strengthen regional cooperation, the TRUE BLUE project will organize thematic workshops including networking sessions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania to facilitate communication and interaction between government institutions, industry, research&academia and civil society (Quadruple Helix).
